Description of phenolic board
Phenolic insulation boards, known as PF boards, are the priciest yet most efficient type of insulation. These boards are made of lightweight but durable thermosetting plastics and are widely recognized as superior rigid materials for thermal insulation. They outperform other common insulation materials like PIR by up to 50%. PF boards are particularly suitable for investors aiming to achieve energy-saving or passive house standards. Compared to PIR boards, PF panels have a slightly higher R-value and a thinner profile, thanks to their unique manufacturing process. While PIR has a lambda value of 0.022 W/mK, phenolic closed cell foam offers 0.018 W/mK, making it only 10% better than PIR.

|
Display of the characteristics
Phenolic has exceptional fire performance.
The density can range from 2 to 8 pounds per cubic foot depending upon the job requirements.
The high closed-cell content of phenolic gives it very high resistance to moisture penetration.
